O baterista Andy Anderson, que integrou os The Cure, morreu na noite de terça-feira vítima de doença prolongada. O música tinha 68 anos de idade e tinha revelado há poucos dias que sofria de um cancro.

Foi entre 1983 e 1984 que o baterista fez parte da banda rock britânica, tendo colaborado ainda com Iggy Pop ou Peter Gabriel. Anderson integrou os The Cure quando um dos membros fundadores, Lol Tolhurst, passou da bateria para as teclas.
Clifford Leon Anderson, nome verdadeiro do baterista, nasceu em Londres em 1951.
Lol Tolhurs deixou uma mensagem de condolências, no Twitter, e garante que "Andy era um verdadeiro cavalheiro e um grande músico".

Andy Anderson was A true gentleman and a great musician with a wicked sense of humor which he kept until the end, a testament to his beautiful spirit on the last journey. We are blessed to have known him.
